Overview

This role takes the lead on boutique design projects for ROOM clients and provides design support functions for the HOME Design Team. The Junior Interior Designer will work directly with clients and/or assist the principal and other team members with design and decoration. The role will be responsible for projects including client communication, selections and specifications, budgeting, ordering, coordinating, purchasing, delivering and installing to help us build and decorate the dream homes and rooms for our clients.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist clients on the sales floor and by telephone in regards to their interior decorating & design needs.

  • Work with clients to decorate, design, and make selections for projects to the company’s standard of quality, developing plans and specifications.

  • Select and develop interior finishes, specifications packages, colour palettes, and finish boards for clients.

  • Generate presentation material including drawings, mood boards and images.

  • Coordinate and manage the installation and arrangement of furniture fixtures, art, and accessories.

  • Assist the HOME design team as needed throughout the design process as projects require.

  • Manage project documentation delivery and maintain project records.

  • Tracks progress of ordered items and contacts customers upon arrival of the items.

  • Attends staff meetings to discuss new projects, procedures, and issues, as well as to participate or lead in cross-training opportunities, usually in conjunction with a vendors

  • Assists in helping maintain the showroom floor including assisting with vacation time

  • Organize, quote and consult on Hunter Douglas blinds and installations


Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree from an accredited Design School preferred, or a 2-year College degree in a design-related program.

  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and the Google suite of programs. MyDoma is a bonus.

  • Knowledge of architectural/interior design concepts, practices, and construction documents, detailing, and practices.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

  • Additional background in sales or customer service preferred.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

The hours for this position are flexible and are based solely on a 40-hour work week (2000-hour work year) you are encouraged to use your discretion on how you choose to schedule your work, keeping in mind the necessities of office and client scheduling. Some overtime may be required and is banked as lieu time.

  • Personal protective equipment must be worn at appropriate times as determined by your supervisor.

  • Work is occasionally subject to all sorts of weather conditions.

  • You are responsible for your transportation to the site or office as determined by your supervisor each day.

  • This job requires occasional heavy lifting.
